📆 Just Another Day in HOA-Land: Selective Enforcement & The Siding Saga

Some people get mail with good news. I get another HOA violation.

This time? It’s for my siding — and yes, I’ll be honest: it could use a little maintenance. But as usual, this isn’t about siding. It’s about selective enforcement, harassment, and a board that continues to operate without integrity or fairness.

🚨 The Pattern Is Clear

If this were a one-time issue, maybe I could shrug it off. But it’s not.

Over the years, I’ve documented:

  • Fines and warnings for things other homeowners get away with.

  • Targeted letters that always seem to come after I speak out.

  • A board that plays favorites and ignores violations by their own.

And they’re always on the prowl to try and get me — like it’s a sport. Let’s be real: these are the type of individuals who will cut off their thumb to spite their hand.

🪞 Same Siding, Different Standards

A main member of our HOA board — someone actively enforcing these rules — has siding that’s arguably in worse condition than mine. And yet, I’d bet everything I own they haven’t received a violation. Not a letter. Not a warning. Not even a whisper.

I know this because I’ve had to document it myself.

The photos clearly show the deterioration — and frankly, it may require more extensive work than what’s needed on my home.

🧾 I Hate Doing This, But…

I don’t want to spend my time photographing other people’s homes. I’m too busy trying to water my own grass — literally and figuratively. But when your HOA lacks integrity and fairness, documentation becomes survival.

And let’s be honest — I live in a community with no pool, no playground, no clubhouse, no amenities of any kind — and yet, they’re always on the hunt for more money. Not a single management company in sight either. Sheesh.

🧠 Why This Matters

Selective enforcement is a serious issue. HOAs are supposed to uphold community standards equitably, not weaponize violations against homeowners who dare to speak up.

So why are:

  • Some homeowners penalized while others get a pass?

  • Board members not held to the same standard?

  • Violations enforced based on personal bias instead of fair governance?

🧨 It’s Time for Reform

The lack of oversight, transparency, and accountability in HOAs across Georgia (and the country) has created systems ripe for abuse. This siding letter is just the latest symptom of a deeper problem: unchecked power.

Until there are real checks and balances in place — like third-party management, state-level regulation, and homeowner protections — stories like mine will keep happening.

✊🏽 To My Fellow Homeowners

If you’re facing something similar, document everything.Stay calm, stay informed, and most importantly — don’t be afraid to speak up.

You’re not alone. Your home deserves better.
